Sarah Linhares’ presence and sound resonates intergalactic beauty. This passionate Portuguese-Irish, Montreal based artist uniquely expresses an eclectic blend of Electro, R&B, Cosmic J Dilla inspired beats, Pop, and Future Soul. Having begun her love affair with music at an early age through singing in her church choir, Sarah’s unique musical style has been shaped by an obsession with UK bass heavy electronic music, singing in a multitude of gospel choirs, performing and dancing to Afro-Brazilian Samba, being selected to the Red Bull Music Academy, and touring and recording during an artist residency in Venezuela.

Linhares was crowned MTL’s ‘Queen of Piu Piu’ while making a splash with her impressive debut record, Messages From The Future, which was released on Public Transit Recordings late 2011 and was nominated for Electronic Album of the Year by the GAMIQ. This record showcased collaborations with the musical talents of Portugal’s Camplaix, Moonstarr, Kenlo, Sikh Knowledge, and Think Twice.

Her music has been warmly supported all over the globe by the likes of Gilles Peterson, iTunes Japan, FNAC Portugal, FACTOR, Nu-Soul Magazine, XLR8R, Richard Florida, and musicismysanctuary.com. Sarah has collaborated with many International talents this year including Stanley Bloom and Mike Ro Wave with their stellar Pacific Shore Project, and Portugal’s World Scratch Champion DJ Ride, who’s single ‘Here Before’ has garnered nearly 200 000 Youtube views.

Sarah’s live show encompasses variations in Soul, Electronic, Pop, Latin and R& B and some her greatest musical influences include Björk, Erykah Badu, Flying Lotus, Little Dragon, Portishead, Eurythmics, and Lykke Li. Her performance highlights include: playing at POP Montreal, opening for King Britt at Toronto’s NuJazz Festival, opening for Carl Craig with Moonstarr at Mutek Festival, opening for Mount Kimbie, Manifesto Festival, and performing in Portugal and Venezuela.

Sarah has been invited to attend the Pedra Sina Artist Resdiency on Madeira Island, Portugal,
in the month of March ‘13 where she will be writing and composing new material for her second album while exploring her own Madeiran roots. She will be performing throughout Portugal and France in April ’13. She is also completing a FACTOR supported EP with her new Electro Soul project, Future Falcon, which is slated to drop Fall 2013.
